VIENTIANE, May 29 (Xinhua) -- The fifth International Mountain Tourism Day was marked in Laos on Monday to promote the full recovery of tourism and full opening up of the tourism market.
Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism together with the International Mountain Tourism Alliance (IMTA), jointly marked the fifth International Mountain Tourism Day in the Lao capital Vientiane, which is themed "Enjoy the Wonder of Mountains, Share the Beauty of Life, Revitalize the Tourism Industry."
Speaking at the event, Lao Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Ounthuang Khaophan said that related activities will help visitors gain a deeper insight into Laos' many scenic attractions and first-hand experience of the country's dramatic landscape.
The fifth International Mountain Tourism Day events hosted by Laos will also be another opportunity for the Southeast Asian country to recover its tourism sector from the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the official.
Events organized for International Mountain Tourism Day included an exhibition of mountain tourism activities, handicrafts and other Lao tourism products.
The International Mountain Tourism Alliance is a non-governmental, non-profit international organization registered in China, voluntarily formed by mountain tourism-related organizations, groups and individuals.
